I would never have chosen to read this book; too sinister; too much of an assault on my senses. However the more I read it (as I felt it need a fair amount of re-reading) the more layers I encounterd; the graphic language making its impact on me as I developed ideas and themes.
My conclusion is that I have three strong illustrations. But I don't have a group of illustrations.
They jostle for attention. Frankly the first one is the stongest because it is mult-layered, and echoes Carter's style. I would love to invest more time in this - and win!
